Piers Morgan took advantage of the hottest day of the year by lounging beside his private pool, after attending his dad’s 80th birthday party.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter gave his Instagram followers serious envy on Bank Holiday Monday when he shared a glorious photo of the swimming pool at his East Sussex home.

Offering ultimate privacy, the pool is surrounded by trees and large bushes while deck chairs and garden tables are dotted around.

‘What a beautiful day. 🔥🔥’ Piers bragged as he basked in the sunshine. It appears he was joined by his son Spencer, who shared a similar photo of the pool from a different angle as well as a shot of the family enjoying a barbecue.

The previous day, Piers spent the day with family celebrating his father Vincent’s milestone birthday.

In videos shared on Spencer’s Instagram account, the TV presenter was seen getting stuck into a game of arm wrestling with a much younger relative but it didn’t work in his favour.

With several family members watching on, Piers feigned anger as his arm gave way and he lost the battle.

Then in a turn of events, an unexpected guest made a brief appearance albeit virtually as Piers later video called footballer Jamie Vardy, who was knocking back a Corona from his own garden.

‘Now we’re having a party,’ Spencer quipped, tagging Jamie and his wife Rebekah Vardy.

Alongside a photo of himself with Piers and the birthday boy, Spencer wrote: ‘Three generations of trouble. Happy 80th grandad 👊.’

Piers was also pictured smoking cigars with his brother Rupert.

However, the broadcaster might be in the doghouse with his wife Celia Walden after scooping out the inside of her loaf of bread – and leaving her just the crust.

‘Yes I realise the inside’s the nicest bit, Piers, but we’ve talked about this #livingwithasavage #theregoesmysandwich,’ she wrote alongside a photo of her evidence.

Earlier in the day, Piers shared a letter he’d allegedly received dubbing him a ‘national icon’, but fans weren’t convinced.
