“Real Version of Mr. Glass”: Lakers Fans Lose Their Minds as Anthony Davis Is Rumored to Miss Game 5 Against Suns

The Los Angeles Lakers are fearing a first round exit. During their Game 4 loss against the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers also lost Anthony Davis to a groin injury. The team looked lost without him on the court and they succumbed to an eight point loss, eventually.

With the series tied at 2-2, many fans were hoping that AD would return by the next game. But the possibility of that happening looks grim now. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski recently revealed the latest update on the injury situation and it wasn’t what the Laker fans were eager to hear.

He said, “I’m not hearing great optimism about the possibility of playing in Game 5. He’s not been ruled out. He’s going to see how he feels today until tomorrow. This is normally an injury that might take you at least a week to fully recover from, if you were in the regular season.”

With the game a day away, the Purple and Gold could be in a lot of trouble. AD is already an injury prone player, so expecting him to recover from an injury that usually takes a week in less than two days, seems unrealistic. This has got the Lake Show fans on Twitter worrying about the situation too.

Can LeBron James lead the Lakers in the absence of Anthony Davis?

In the 2020-21 regular season, the Lakers played 36 games without Anthony Davis. They could only win 19 of those, which is just a 52% win record. Although the Lakers also were missing LeBron in a lot of those games, the absence of AD on both ends is colossal.

So without him, all the burden falls on LeBron. He wasn’t able to win the game in AD’s absence last night, but he is confident he can do it in the upcoming games. During his post-game interview, LeBron displayed full confidence in his own ability to carry the team. He said, “These shoulders are built for a reason. If there is going to be some more put on them, so be it. Win, lose or draw, I’m ready for the challenge.”

While it is easier said than done, LeBron has been doing this for years with the Cavs. If he can repeat those historic performances in the upcoming few games, allowing AD to recover fully, the Lakers’ title hopes will still be intact.
