Simon Cowell is said to be working on creating a new talent show to rival his own series Britain’s Got Talent.

The music mogul is hoping his upcoming project will air on another network to go head-to-head with the ITV programme or that it will be made available on streaming giant Netflix, according to reports.

‘He has told friends that he is sick of competitors trying to out-do the brand, so decided he would do it himself,’ an insider said.

‘He’s vowed that his next show will be bigger and better than BGT.’

The source continued to The Sun: ‘He’s weighing up his options and considering if he would put it on a terrestrial channel or take it to a streaming site. Simon has a big vision and the likes of Netflix have hundreds of millions in their coffers to help make it a reality.

‘Considering he’s responsible for some of the century’s most successful entertainment formats, streaming executives should be desperate to bring that Cowell magic to their platform.’

Britain’s Got Talent will not be broadcast this year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, with restrictions and safety concerns a main factor.

In March, Simon’s close pal Sinitta revealed he’s been busy working away on a few TV projects.

‘I spoke to him and he says he’s working on a few things,’ Sinitta exclusively told Metro.co.uk. ‘I’m just waiting to hear what the state of play is.’

Last month, Simon returned to filming America’s Got Talent after breaking his back in August 2020.

It’s also been reported that Simon has been in talks with former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan following his exit from the ITV daytime show earlier this year.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Simon’s rep for comment.
