The Masked Dancer: Beetroot revealed as Dita Von Teese is third eliminated star and biggest celebrity revealed
The Masked Dancer’s Beetroot has been unmasked as Dita Von Teese, the third celebrity to be eliminated from the show.
The ITV competition continued tonight as five more characters – Beetroot, Llama, Zip, Knickerbocker Glory, and Scarecrow – shimmied onto the stage.
Dita is an American burlesque dancer who has been credited with re-popularising burlesque performance. The 48-year-old revealed that she ‘loved the show’ but she failed to impress the audience and judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, and newbie Oti Mabuse.
Despite this, Jonathan said: ‘You move with such grace and elegance.’
Oti was frustrated as she revealed that she’d written Dita’s name down before crossing it out.
Dita admitted to the judges that, although she is a trained dancer, her style is mostly ballet-focused.
‘I always said I’m a failed ballerina, I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina,’ she said.
Dita explained that even though her dance teachers said she had nice movement, she ‘can’t follow choreography’.
The performer said being on the show was ‘a lot of fun’ but that she’d ‘rather be up here taking my clothes off.’

Previously pro dancer and Diversity star Jordan Banjo, as well as singer and media personality Louise Redknapp, had been unmasked.
‘There was one [reveal] in particular, that I genuinely… for me, it was the biggest reaction I gave when I was told it was them,’ he told ITV’s Lorraine today.
‘I just couldn’t believe that they’d done the show. I just never believed that they would do it.

A UK adaptation of The Masked Dancer was commissioned due in part to the success of the original American version, which began airing its first season on Fox last December.
