Battlefield 6 reveal date is this Thursday says EA

Thursday afternoon is the day Battlefield fans finally get a look at this year’s new game, with what will hopefully be a brand new trailer.

The trailer for the new Battlefield trailer has been leaked so many times now the official reveal is in danger of being undermined, but that’ll all be soon forgotten by Thursday.

EA has announced that the reveal will take place on June 3 at 3pm BST, although the teaser below gives little away – beyond giving the impression that it is set in the near future, as the rumours have already suggested.

Although fans continue to call it Battlefield 6, everything implies that the game will be called simply Battlefield, with no number after its name (the first time any entry has been called that, given the first game was named Battlefield 1942).

If the rumours are correct, and everything so far suggests they are, Battlefield will be set 10 to 15 years in the future, although nothing has really leaked about the plot yet.

The multiplayer though is rumoured to have more than 64 players at a time. EA themselves have claimed that the game will have more players and better destruction effects on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, although the game will still be released on last gen consoles.

The trailer that has leaked so much is probably not the one you’ll see on Thursday and while it’s unclear whether it was only ever meant for internal use, or if EA is just making another because it leaked, what we see on Thursday should be brand new footage.

The question of whether the game will have a battle royale mode is still unclear, with EA denying it despite the fact that Battlefield seems especially well suited to it.

They may have been burned by the failure of Battlefield 5’s late-to-the-party Firestorm mode though and they’re being similarly coy about whether there’ll be a free-to-play equivalent to Call Of Duty: Warzone, with the only spin-off so far announced being a mobile game.

It’s been a while since Battlefield has offered any serious competition to Call Of Duty but this year is the best chance EA has had in a while, with this year’s Call Of Duty yet to be announced and rumours suggesting it will be set during the Second World War.
