Body positivity queen Lizzo is here to ‘celebrate’ herself through exercise – and keen to remind followers that it’s not all about dramatic transformations.

The 33-year-old rapper and singer has switched to a vegan diet and enjoys daily workouts but has been clear this is more for her mental health than any weight loss crusade.

In a recent TikTok video, Lizzo shared a montage of herself enjoying a variety of different workouts from skipping and squats to burpees and side-planks, even going as far as pulling a friend on a sledge.

She tellingly captioned the video: ‘The best transformations are the ones only you can see. Celebrate yourself.’

The Good as Hell singer also celebrated her first time exercising in shorts in another TikTok, starting it with a joyful ‘stop the presses’ as she marked the moment.

In the clip, she admitted to always having been ‘too insecure’ and ‘self-conscious’ to wear the garment for a workout previously.

She joked: ‘Also my thigh meat chafes, so I was like, why do that?’

But then Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, got serious about what choosing to exercise in shorts for the first time meant to her.

‘Today I’m working out in shorts and, y’know, I’m gonna keep it real with y’all – not much has changed, physically, about myself, but a lot has changed here, mentally. Here, emotionally,’ she said, as she gestured to her head and then to her heart.

The bottom line? ‘I accept myself. These shorts are a little long so they won’t chafe, but I’m doing it! Yay!’

The Grammy winner has previously batted away criticism of her lifestyle and how she chooses to eat and exercise, having attracted negative attention for going on a smoothie detox last year.

At the time, Lizzo stated: ‘Every big girl should do whatever the f**k they want with their bodies.’

She’s since returned to the theme, reminding her followers that ‘I’m not working out to have your ideal body type, I’m working out to have my ideal body type.’

Seeing as Lizzo was recently spotted turning heads for looking good as hell in a multi-coloured cropped halter-neck top, we’d say the star’s positive attitude continues to shine brightly.
