Netflix US June 2021: Best new shows and films
Netflix US has a long list of new shows and films for users to stream in June (Picture: Netflix/Zeta Producciones/Skatepark Films/Talkback)

Netflix is kicking off the summer with plenty of fun additions to stream in June.

Reality dating show Too Hot To Handle returns for a second season, while popular drama Elite will air for a fourth season.

Elsewhere, viewers should prepare for all the feels when films like Skater Girl and Fatherhood drop on the streaming platform.

Also, get ready for some anime nostalgia thanks to the release of the new Sailor Moon movie.

So here are some of the best new releases coming out in June.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie – June 3

Pretty guardian Sailor Moon must reunite with the Sailor Guardians, who are scattered across the land, to save the world once more in this two part return for the beloved manga character.

The two-part film is technically season four of Sailor Moon Crystal – the Sailor Moon reboot which began in 2014.

For all those who first watched Sailor Moon in the 90s, there will be quite a few differences to the story but it should still be just as fun to watch.

Skater Girl – June 11

Skater Girl is an uplifting story about a teenager in rural India whose life is changed when she develops a passion for skateboarding.

As she attempts to follow her new dream, she faces a rough road due to those who aren’t as sold on change.

Fatherhood – June 18

Comedian Kevin Hart shows his serious side, playing a single father whose wife dies a day after their daughter is born.

The heartwarming and emotional true story shows the challenges of the toughest jobs in the world: fatherhood.

Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, and Paul Reiser round out this all-star cast for the film which is out just in time for Father’s Day.

Elite: Season 4 – June 18

Elite season four will star a predominantly new cast so there’s no knowing where the plot will go this time.

The previous season ended with Guzmán, Samuel, Rebeca, Ander and Omar all still at Las Encinas, so we imagine that season four will explore what happens to them when they cross paths with a whole new set of students.

Too Hot To Handle: Season 2 – June 23

The series drops on June 23, with the final batch of instalments arriving on our screens on June 30.

A first-look trailer for the Netflix dating show has sent our temperatures soaring, teasing an ‘all-new steamy retreat’ for singletons to avoid each other in.

‘You asked for it and boy have we delivered,’ a voiceover warned, giving us a glimpse at the luxury villa.

‘Get ready for a new batch of hot chastity-challenged singles, resisting temptation in this all-new steamy retreat. Can they handle the heat in paradise?’

America: The Motion Picture – June 30

With Channing Tatum as George Washington, Olivia Munn as Thomas Edison and Simon Pegg as King James, America: The Motion Picture promises to be a different type of historical project.

Washington has been transformed into a ripped, chainsaw-wielding man, leads the charge to take on the British in an offbeat take on the American Revolution.
