Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK star Bimini eyes up move to Downing Street: ‘I’m moving house soon’
Britain could soon have a prime minister who takes great pride in their hair as Drag Race star Bimini Bon Boulash continues bidding for global domination.
The non-binary performer has already been signed by top modelling agency Next, has a single out called God Save This Queen and a new book among all the balls they are juggling.
Now the 28-year-old has opened up to Guilty Pleasures about pronouns, homophobia… and taking inspiration from Beyoncé.
‘I’m looking to move house soon, so I am looking at 10 Downing Street,’ warned the ambitious beauty. ‘There’s not enough hours in the day. The same as Beyoncé… if she can do it, so can I!’
Bimini’s real name is Tommy Hibbitts, but uses the pronoun ‘they’.
Reflecting on society’s hesitancy to embrace non-binary and non-descript pronouns they say: ‘It’s a complex notion but in the simplest way it is, “I don’t just fit into one or two categories”. The human experience is far more complex than that. It’s not a new thing and it’s not going to go away whether they are trans, non-binary or whether they have a different gender identity. They are always going to exist.’
Bimini learned these lessons the hard way. ‘Growing up you just become accustomed to homophobia. I was a very flamboyant child.
‘As I became more socially aware, you replace that. You go, “OK, I can’t do that if I want to fit in or have friends”. People who say stuff and give you s*** and you just take it on. Every day micro-aggressions.
‘Even I have been like, “Oh that’s gay”, without even realising the connotations behind it. I wouldn’t say that now, but back in the day I would. People are more socially aware now.’
The former journalism graduate said the new single ‘pokes holes at society’, adding: ‘Being able to laugh at yourself and laugh at people that made you feel bad.’ And as for bagging a lover, they said: ‘I have been in a relationship for four years. Bimini looks great a lot of the time so why wouldn’t ya?!’
More Guilty Pleasures…

Ed Sheeran has been revealing the dieting secrets behind his proud new dad bod.
The Shape Of You singer, who became a father to daughter Lyra Antarctica last year, debuted his slimmer frame on the Radio 1’s Big Weekend this week.
Ed says he resisted being a couch potato during lockdown, adding: ‘It’s the first time I’ve been really healthy. I’ve kind of stopped all the bad habit stuff in my life. I started exercising every day.
‘Now I don’t eat takeaway every single day and it’s been good.’
The 30-year-old, whose first No.1 album was called +, explained that he started focusing on his health following his record-setting Divide tour, which boasted a total box office gross of £546.89million.
‘It just happened,’ he said. ‘And because I wasn’t having chicken wings and two bottles of wine a night.’
Ed’s transformation comes two years after he revealed the grease addiction he and his wife Cherry share. ‘My motto is, “Why have abs when you can have kebabs”,’ he said at the time.
‘I do like a healthy shish but I do love a filthy doner in a wrap. There are some nice kebab shops. Me and Cherry have one near us, which is basically like a gastro kebab, really nicely done.
‘It is more the ones where it has been sitting there for a while…’
Mel reveals her pain at being kept apart from daughter, nine
Being separated from her youngest daughter during the pandemic is ‘the hardest thing’ for Scary Spice.
Mel B shares custody of nine-year-old Madison with her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte, and strict travel restrictions mean she has been forced to go months without seeing her daughter.
Mel, 46, said: ‘Unfortunately, due to the justice system, a difficult situation with my ex, and the fact that my youngest is an American citizen, I have shared care of Madison. And because of Covid, flying between America and the UK has been really difficult.
‘Not having my baby with me for months at a time is the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with.’
It’s much harder being Beet-a Von Teese
Stripping off for a burlesque routine is easier than being a beetroot on The Masked Dancer, admits Dita Von Teese.
The saucy US performer, 48, unveiled as the famous face in the Beetroot costume at the weekend, said: ‘I was quite timid, which is strange because I’m not nervous when I’m dancing in my own shows.
‘I would get so worried about making mistakes in the choreography. It reminds me of being stressed out in ballet auditions when I was a teenager. Being masked and being on TV is very different.’

The Bafta winner said her daughters certainly approved of the offer to fly to Queensland: ‘They were like, “Oh my God, we’re going to be in the Versace hotel for five weeks!”’
But the idea fell through and she was saved from the creepy-crawlies. Anna said: ‘If they threw me in a coffin with those… it would be good TV.’
