What’s the highest jackpot ever won on Pointless?
Pointless has become a staple of teatime TV over the years, with countless contestants showing off their knowledge in front of hosts Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.
In case you’ve never actually seen it, the show involved teams of two having to guess, through a series of rounds, correct but obscure answers to questions, in their big to nab as much cash as possible.
Of course it’s possible to go home with a tidy sum of money in your pocket – but just what is the highest sum of money anyone has ever won on the show?
Here’s what you need to know…
What’s the highest jackpot ever won on Pointless?
While it’s possible to walk away from Pointless without becoming a whole lot richer, some big jackpots have also been won on the show.
The highest of these came in 2013, when father and son team David and Jonathan Hammond Williams took home an impressive £24,750.
They bagged the enormous sum after managing to answer a question related to Enrique Iglesias’ song Maybe – although the format of the final round has changed since then.
Back then the pair who made it to the final round would select from a choice of categories, and have to answer one question in that category.
The categories for the final round now offer teams a choice of three questions – and they pick one they will try and find the pointless answer for.
Once a team has won a jackpot on the show, it will be reset to £1000 – although it begins at £2,500 in celebrity versions of the show, when each team’s winnings will go to the charity of their choice.
