Sheamus Refuses to Vacate WWE United States Championship Despite Devastating Injury
It has been a rough couple of weeks for the United States Champion, Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior was at the end of a beat down by two perpetual mid-carders, and has now suffered a gruesome injury. However, he put out a statement on Instagram to silence his doubters.
Sheamus lets fans know he isn’t vacating his title
Sheamus faced Humberto Carrillo and Ricochet in back-to-back singles matches on Raw. Having beaten both men for United States Championship, the Celtic Warrior needed a defining victory to settle these rivalries and move on. Unfortunately, things wouldn’t go his way.
Sheamus first faced Ricochet, and lost to him after a distraction from Humberto. In the next match, he faced Carrillo, but a distraction from Ricochet cost him the match. The situation got worse for the United States Champion as he suffered a broken nose during the match.
A drop kick from Carrillo resulted in significant facial damage for the Celtic Warrior, who looked like a beast, but bled a lot during the match. He took to Instagram to first reveal the extent of his injury and his emotions, but now reveals the actual damage suffered.
The Celtic Warrior will live up to his moniker and not vacate the United States Championship. Just like John Cena who suffered a broken nose in 2015, but returned at SummerSlam to face Seth Rollins, we can expect a similar comeback from Sheamus. If I was Ricochet or Humberto Carrillo, I’d be terrified.

Triple threat at Hell in a Cell?
A likely outcome from the events of Monday Night Raw is a triple threat match at Hell in a Cell. Although he’s beaten Ricochet twice and Carrillo once by pinfall and once by referee stoppage, Sheamus needs a defining victory where he beats two young talents at the same time.
Take nothing away from Carrillo and Ricochet, two of Raw’s most awe-inspiring performers. It’s been two years since Ricochet held a championship on the main roster, and some would say it’s time for him to shine again. However, it is the Celtic Warrior who needs to walk into SummerSlam as US Champion.
If Ricochet or Carrillo win the title, then no harm or foul. They’re worthy competitors and deserve a title run. However, will the Celtic Warrior cede so easily? If this match happens, we are in for a wonderful bout.
