Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celeb battle over Gok Wan
It looks like Strictly Come Dancing and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are battling over Gok Wan, after the fashion expert and presenter claimed he’d been approached to star in both.
The 46-year-old said he’d been offered a place on the hit shows on multiple occasions in the past, but never been confident enough to do either before.
Speaking to The Sun, Gok said he would be ‘terrified’ to appear on the programmes, but didn’t rule out anything out in the future.
‘I have been asked to do both and, quite often, I’ll see whether I would do it or not,’ he said.
‘Believe it or not, I just don’t have the confidence to do it. I know that I would be terrified before I went onto the dance floor and I just don’t think I’ve got it in me.’
Gok went on to say: ‘I really enjoy doing my job and I really enjoy being on camera, but I like being on camera with stuff that I know about so I would find it really intimidating.’
The BBC declined to comment when we reached out to them. Metro.co.uk has also approached ITV for comment.
Meanwhile, after weeks of waiting on confirmation, it was reported that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will be making an epic return to the Australian jungle.
A source close to the show said signs are ‘pointing towards a return’ to the reality TV show’s original location, having taken place at Gwrych Castle in north Wales in 2020.
Strictly Come Dancing went ahead last year without a studio audience during the pandemic, with Bill Bailey winning with partner Oti Mabuse.
The line-up for future series of both shows has yet to be announced – but could Gok be making an appearance on one of them later this year, perhaps?
Gok first made his name with the success of How To Look Good Naked, which first aired on Channel 4 back in 2006.
While the show was a success, the presenter previously revealed that he needed therapy after the show became a trigger.
Talking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, Gok revealed he would ‘envelop’ himself in the lives of the women he was dressing, so much so that he had to seek professional help when the cameras stopped rolling.
‘I needed a break,’ he admitted. ‘We made 78 [episodes of the show]. Back in the day, I used to have therapy when I was making the show. There were so many triggers for me in there, what I’ve gone through with my body and how I feel about myself.’
