The impressive plant towers over the house at 18ft[/caption]
He planted it in front of his house three years ago and it has topped the 16ft record by 2ft.
Darren, from Saltash, Cornwall, said: “We measured it at 18ft three inches but it’s actually still growing.
“I reckon it’s still got another month’s growth. It could put on another foot at least.”

His plant flowered in its third year so it had an extra year’s growth on most, which usually flower in their second.
Darren added: “I’ve been protecting it, wrapping it up in in the winter – it’s in a great spot.
“When you come up the road it’s just right there in your eyeline, so it stands out – it looks good, very impressive.”
