Colby Covington Says Tyron Woodley ‘Will Take A Dive’ Against Jake Paul To Lose On Purpose
Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will face YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul later this year. The news broke recently and many fighters and fans alike have shared their views on the same. A certain fighter named Colby Covington, too, had some words of his own to reflect on the fight.
Recently, ‘Chaos’ appeared for an interview with MMA Junkie. The former interim welterweight champ talked about many things, including Woodley vs Paul. He shared his opinion when asked about Jake picking selective opponents like Woodley.
“Yeah, without a doubt,” Covington said. “He is picking these fights, you know, with guys that are kind of towards the end of their careers, you know. Make no mistakes, Tyron has a great legacy.”
He added, “He was the world champion for a couple of times but, you know, he has passed his time. He is almost 40 years old, he is 38-39 and Jake is taking the right steps, taking the right fights with right fighters that are kind of at the end of their careers.”
The American then went on explaining the reason for this fight. “It’s sad. But they are doing this on purpose and I really think Tyron is going out there to take a dive. I think he’s broken… he has got mouths to feed.”
“He has got a lot of alimony paychecks to pay. So, I think he’s gonna go out there and take a dive,” he concluded.

Colby Covington on Jake Paul
Covington‘s last match was against Woodley where the former won via TKO at UFC Fight Night 178. He shares a good bond with his old rival, though. He also had some opinions stored for Paul as well, besides Woodley.
‘Chaos’ says Paul has got fame from Disney world and needs to face him to prove himself to be the best in the world. He further says it’s not credible for Paul to face guys who are past their time.
Paul is fresh from his first first-round knockout win over former MMA welterweight champ Ben Askren for the records. Meanwhile, Woodley’s last in-ring appearance came in a losing cause against Vicente Luque at UFC 260. Shortly, it was announced he won’t compete for the promotion again.
It will be an interesting fight though. Paul is slowly stepping up against some legitimate prizefighters. A win here will only enhance his reputation and on the other side, though there is money at the offer, Woodley will also have his legacy up on the line.
