Ex-WWE star Chelsea Green reveals reality show talks with fiancé Matt Cardona
Chelsea Green has revealed she and Matt Cardona have thought about stepping into the world of reality TV.
The former WWE superstar – who is engaged to the current IMPACT Wrestling star – is looking to make the most of her newfound freedom after getting released by the company in April, and she’s open to following in the footsteps of the likes of the Bella twins and AEW couple Cody and Brandi Rhodes.
She exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘Matt and I have spoken about it here and there. People who know us know that we’re such an odd couple.
‘We are so in love and we work together so well, but I’m such an extrovert and he’s such an introvert. There’s a funny dynamic that we have. He shares it on his podcast, and I’m gonna try to share my view on mine.
‘We’re so open to the world that really, now, we’re open on social media, we’re open on podcasts – why wouldn’t we be open on a TV show?
‘If that ever came about, I think it would be very ridiculous but funny and entertaining for people!’
Chelsea has been very open during her Green With Envy podcast, which was originally titled Fifty Shades of Green before the Fifty Grades of Grey team got in touch with a cease and desist order.
Fans are loving her honesty, and a reality show would offer another glimpse into the loved up couple’s relationship, which has been a source of support for both of them in the wild world of pro wrestling.
‘It is nice to have that support of somebody. Sometimes, he’d just let me go through those motions. That’s sometimes what you need,’ she added, referring to past injuries and losing jobs.
‘You need to have a day where you’re bummed or angy at the world for it. He also says, “OK that’s enough, we’re done with the pity party, let’s move on. What can we do next?” ‘
Because Matt had already suffered a bad knee injury in the past, Chelsea could lean on his experience when she broke her arm in November last year minutes into her SmackDown debut.
She pondered: ‘I know how hard that was for him. He knew that it was gonna be an emotional rollercoaster from the day I broke my arm until the day that I was cleared.
‘It is always gonna be emotional because this is my dream that I’m having to put on hold for just a crappy little break in my arm!’
While being with someone in the business does help in these moments, Chelsea admitted it doesn’t mean the fear goes away when you see the person you love get hurt.
‘I think it makes it easier. It’s never easy to see the person you love hurt, no matter what,’ she explained. ‘If I could show you all the messages Matt sent when I disappeared off TV during that qualifying match before Survivor Series – we’re scared!’
On another level, Cardona appeared to get hurt at IMPACT’s Rebellion show earlier this year, but Chelsea didn’t know whether or not it was legit until some time later.
‘He was on Rebellion and I was watching, and with the knee things, I sit there and I get really nervous. You don’t know what’s what! It’s scary but I know that no matter what, we’re gonna be fine,’ she smiled.
‘Unless he falls off a massive ladder or something like that, I know that he’s trained to do this and I’m trained to do this. So, we’re gonna be OK. A broken arm – OK, we’re fine. It’s six weeks, we’re fine!’
