From Samoa Joe to Braun Strowman, Every Superstar WWE Released in 2021
2021 has not been a good year for several wrestlers. WWE released a bunch of top talent this year, most of whom underutilised. However, certain names shocked the WWE Universe and even the wrestlers themselves. From names who wrestled only a handful of times to a former World Champion, this is every wrestler WWE released in 2021.
Every male superstar WWE released
From NXT, we saw Velveteen Dream exit the company after a year of absence. The former North American Champion was in a controversial position as fans wanted his release for a long time. Along with him, Alexander Wolfe, the former Sanity and Imperium member also exited the company in May.
The year kicked off with the release of Lars Sullivan. The big man missed most of 2020 due to injury, and his run with the company ended in January. Soon after him, Andrade asked for his release, having not wrestled a single match since October 2020. WWE granted his release in March, and will face Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship in August.
WWE released two members of the Forgotten Sons, Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler. However, the most controversial member of the group, Jaxon Ryker, is still wrestling on Monday Night Raw. The release that shocked the world after WrestleMania 37 was Samoa Joe. The former US Champion exited the company along with Bo Dallas, Mojo Rawley, Kalisto and Tucker.
The shocks followed as they released former Universal Champion Braun Strowman. Along with him, talented superstars like Aleister Black and Buddy Murphy also headed out.
Two legends left WWE to enter AEW. Hall of Famer Mark Henry and Big Show/Paul Wight are now All Elite. Although his contract expired, there’s still some doubt whether Daniel Bryan is still in WWE.

Every female superstar released
WWE really took the women’s division to the cleaners after WrestleMania, eliminating a lot of talent. The IIconics, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay were the most shocking releases from the female bunch. Chelsea Green and Mickie James joined them on their way out.
In May, more female talent joined the list, and they were equally shocking. After being pushed consistently, entering the Royal Rumble, winning the Survivor Series elimination match and improving week after week, the company cruelly released Lana. Along with her, Ruby Riott also exited the company.
From NXT, they released the UFC’s Four Horsewomen member, Jessamyn Duke, India’s first female WWE superstar Kavita Devi, Vanessa Borne and Santana Garrett.
From the commentary desk, Adnan Virk and Tom Phillips left the company. WWE soon replaced them with Jimmy Smith, former UFC analyst.
