‘He Hasn’t Won a Fight in Three Years’- Dana White on Tyron Woodley Boxing Jake Paul

Dana White spoke to Mike Swick on his podcast and went over all the happening events in combat sports world. The UFC President ran through a gauntlet of topics right from the upcoming UFC events to the boxing exhibitions. Chiefly, White was asked to share his candid views on the recent fight announcement between Tyron Woodley and Jake Paul.

The former UFC welterweight champion will make his pro boxing debut against ‘The Problem Child’ on August 28. The news broke a few days ago and had a mixed reception from fans. However, it’s easy to see how the fight came together considering that Jake Paul viciously knocked out Woodley’s friend and teammate, Ben Askren, in his last fight.

Will Jake Paul advance to 4-0 by beating Tyron Woodley?

The UFC recently let go of Tyron Woodley after ‘The Chosen One’ lost four fights in a row in a rather definitive fashion. Chiefly, White views Woodley’s decline as the main reason that Jake Paul challenged Woodley to a boxing match. Moreover, Dana White attributed Paul being the favorite on the lines to the fact that he was facing a diminished version of Woodley.

“Tyron Woodley has punching power and obviously has put a lot of dudes to sleep in his career. Tyron Woodley doesn’t look [like] Tyron Woodley of the past that was putting everybody to sleep. He hasn’t won a fight in three years, he’s going to be 40-years-old.”

“But I will give it to him [Jake Paul], at least he’s stepping in there with a guy who can punch. It [Paul being the favorite] has to do with Woodley’s age and he hasn’t won a fight in three years.”

Despite the skid, it’s impossible to deny that Jake Paul is finally facing someone who is a threat to him on the feet. Woodley’s has scored some highlight-reel KO’s throughout his career and is as formidable as they come.

What’s more, Tyron Woodley has a chip on his shoulder now that Jake Paul holds a KO win over his friend and teammate. From Paul’s perspective, a win over Tyron Woodley will give him an unequivocal sense of legitimacy amongst his peers.
