‘He’s Washed Up’: Colby Covington Bashes Conor McGregor Ahead of UFC 264

Colby Covington’s antics are infamous in the MMA community. His jabs on the mic are at par, if not more dangerous, with his jabs in the ring. There is one, however, who has proven his mastery on the microphone more than ‘Chaos’. Conor McGregor, with his swagger and exceptional mic skills, set the precedent of how to sell fights in the UFC.

That doesn’t reserve him from being a target to Covington’s antics.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, Covington analyzed where Conor McGregor’s career’s heading ahead of UFC 264. Covington, referring to McGregor as ‘Conman,’ said, “It’s funny you’re talking about ‘Conman’ McGregor and the Dustin fight. Conman’s washed up. I don’t even know why he is fighting. I mean, we know why he is fighting. His pride won’t let him stop from fighting.”

Is McGregor’s fighting career? Colby Covington speaks his mind

Conor McGregor got finished by Poirier in their last fight in January. This is a first in the Irishman’s career. Since then, ‘Notorious’ has made it clear that only the trilogy fight is on his radar. But, with his stardom at its peak, fans are doubtful whether McGregor of old would show up at UFC 264.

“The guy has got nothing left. He’s a horse and pony show now. The guy is done. He is cashed out. He’s made all that money, he has nothing left to prove but his pride won’t let him stop,” Covington opined.

Not out of his usual style, Colby Covington has come out to bash both the parties involved in the UFC 264 main event. In his recent interviews, he has been critical of former teammate Dustin Poirier as well. He called Poirier a piece of sh** person after bashing McGregor.

After McGregor’s first knockout loss, Covington’s tirade towards the Irishman has intensified. Covington had referred to McGregor as the laughingstock of the MMA community. The comment was elicited after the former called out the welterweight champion.

Covington has predicted his former teammate would win the trilogy fight set for July.
