Jake Paul Will ‘Rematch’ Tyron Woodley Immediately If He Loses the Fight
Tyron Woodley’s manager Malki Kawa from First Round Management sat down with MMA Fighting and went over Woodley’s recent booking. The former UFC champion will take on YouTuber turned boxing star Jake Paul on August 28, per a recent announcement. Woodley was recently let go by the UFC after losing four straight fights in rather dominant fashion.
Malki Kawa revealed that Jake Paul’s team has sought an immediate rematch if they lose to Tyron Woodley. ‘The Chosen One’ is 0-0 as a professional boxer and Paul is the favorite according to the initial lines. Kawa suggested that fighting Woodley was a ‘scary fight’ for Paul. He went on that he’ll be handed his first loss in boxing by a multiple-time former UFC champion.
“Jake Paul’s team negotiated an automatic rematch clause, That’s how much this is a scary fight to them. If we win this fight, if Jake Paul wants it, then we have to run it back with him.” [h/t BJPENN.com]

What’s on the table for Tyron Woodley by fighting Jake Paul?
On the surface, Woodley’s boxing bout against Jake Paul makes a lot of sense considering Paul Knocked out Woodley’s friend, Ben Askren. ‘Funky’ Ben was finished in the very first round, despite being an MMA champion in his own right. However, Malki Kawa went on to say that the scrap against Jake Paul has certain legacy offerings for Woodley as well, and not just revenge.
“This is a major, legacy fight,” Kawa said of Woodley’s fight against Paul. “Could you imagine if Tyron Woodley has lost his last four fights, comes in, demolishes this guy or say it’s a really good fight, Tyron pulls it out, goes and does another rematch, gets paid even more for the rematch. Let’s say beat him twice in a row and then decided to hang the gloves up forever.”
Long-time fans of Woodley will expect him to dominate Jake Paul given his storied legacy as a UFC fighter. Even though Paul is the favorite, many believe his experience and skill set pales in comparison to Tyron Woodley’s. However, Woodley’s management has clearly believe that beating Jake Paul would bolster Woodley’s legacy in the history books.
