Top 3 Destinations for Chris Paul in the Upcoming 2021 NBA Free Agency

The Phoenix Suns entered the playoffs this season for the first time since 2010. And majority of the credit for this goes to Chris Paul, who continued his run of improving teams. The Point God not only helped them to return to the playoffs but also finish as the second seed.

There was wide speculation that he would accept his massive $44 million player option to continue with the Suns. But according to new reports, he is going to decline it, hoping to sign a three-year deal worth $100 million. So this opens the possibility of him joining a new team in the offseason. Lets look at the top three destinations for CP3 in the 2021 Free Agency.

Phoenix Suns

The most likely destination remains Phoenix for Paul. He has been an excellent mentor to Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton so the Suns will be hoping he stays. He has been a leader on the team and the Suns will do whatever possible to keep him.

The only problem they have is that Ayton and Mikal Bridges are up for extensions and both of them will be expecting big contracts. They also have Booker who is already on a max deal. So the Suns will have some tough decisions to make if they want to keep CP3 around.

Los Angeles Lakers

With this being potentially his final contract in the league, a reunion with best friend LeBron James could be likely in Los Angeles. They have been trying to team up for years now and this is their best chance to do so. The Lakers need a playmaker alongside LeBron and CP is the best in the business. In order to pull this off, the Lakers will need to engage in a sign and trade which will probably involve Dennis Schroder.

New York Knicks

The Knicks are the final team on this list who could land Paul. They have been interested in bringing him in since last season and coach Tom Thibodeau was also vocal about his admiration for Paul. The Knicks need a floor general like him on the team, and he can be an excellent addition to the young and inexperienced Knicks team.

With free agency still months away, fans will be eager to find out about the next and possibly the final chapter in CP3’s career.
