Tyson Fury’s Fandom of Max Verstappen Proves F1’s Popularity: Horner

Tyson Fury is a professional boxer, and he is not in the ring, he can be enjoying Formula One. Fury is a massive fan of Dutch driver, Max Verstappen. Fury even called Horner after their victory at the Monaco Grand Prix courtesy of Verstappen.

Team Principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner has even compared Fury to Verstappen. He thinks both are extremely competitive in their sport and always remain focused.

Horner sees similar traits in Fury and Max Verstappen

As quoted from the Red Bull website, Horner said, “So far this championship is box office. I even received a text from Tyson Fury after Max’s win in Monaco. The two-time world heavyweight champion is a fan of Max.”

“And there has been a lot of excitement from other sports around the competitive championship fight we are in. Tyson is an incredibly passionate and focussed guy and I think he respects the fact that Max drives in a similar way,” Christian concluded.

Horner wary of Mercedes bouncing back at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The Milton-Keynes squad won the Monaco Grand Prix due to a brilliant drive by Verstappen. This win saw them lead the championship table ahead of their rivals Mercedes after many years. However, Horner is well aware of how readily the Silver Arrow can be and must be ready for anything in Baku.

The team boss said, “I think Azerbaijan is a very different kind of street circuit to [Monaco]. Very long straights, and it’s been a strong track for Mercedes in the past.”

“We’re not under any illusions, we are sure they are going to bounce back fast. We’ve got to go there and attack the weekend exactly as we have done at every race this season.”

“[We’re] leading both championships for the first time in the hybrid era, so that’s really encouraging,” added Horner. “But no one’s getting carried away. There’s still an awful long way to go in this championship but to be as close as we are at this stage is encouraging.” Horner concluded.
