How old is Tom Jones?

Tom was born in Treforest, Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales, on June 7, 1940 – which makes him 80-years-old.

His showbiz career spans six decades, from his emergence as a vocalist in the mid-1960s with a string of top hits and regular appearances in Las Vegas.

He became a coach on The Voice back in 2012, while it was still on the BBC.

He was joined by will.i.am, Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue. He mentored Leanne Mitchell to win the first series.

He returned to coach in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

In August 2015 it was announced that Jones’ contract with the show would not be renewed and that he would be replaced by Boy George.

The pop superstar criticised BBC bosses for “sub-standard behaviour”, having not consulted with him and informing him only 24 hours before the official announcement.

However, he returned to the show in 2016 when it began airing on ITV.

Tom Received a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1966, an MTV Video Music Award in 1989, and two Brit Awards: Best British Male in 2000 and the Outstanding Contribution to Music award in 2003.

He was awarded an OBE in 1999 and in 2006 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to music.

Tom had the winning act on The Voice in 2018, with teenager Ruti Olajugbagbe crowned the champion.

Who was his wife Melinda Trenchard?

Tom was married to his childhood sweetheart Lady Melinda Rose Woodward for 59 years and was by her side when she died from a “fierce” battle with cancer in April 2016.

The couple had one son, Mark Woodward, who was born in 1957.

Linda stood by Tom throughout their marriage despite the lothario enjoying a string of affairs and admitting to sleeping with 250 women at the height of his fame.

Sir Tom once described his marriage as “rock solid” despite his affairs, saying “all the rest was fun and games”.

In 2015,  he was branded “sexist” after saying that Linda, who suffered from depression and emphysema, had “lost her spark”.

Linda and Tom enjoyed a private marriage and were rarely pictured together out in public.

Linda was crippled with agoraphobia, a fear of going outside, in later life and friends say the private woman feared being gossiped about.

In a rare interview, “shy” Linda once said: “I feel alive when [Tom] comes through the door, whatever the time of day or night is.”

Close friends said she enjoyed housework, watching TV and drinking champagne.

Does he have kids?

Over the course of their near-six decades of marriage, Tom and Melinda had one son, Mark Woodward, who was born in 1957.

However, Tom had multiple affairs during his time with Melinda, with one resulting in a child.

In October 1987, while on tour in the US, Tom had a brief relationship with model Katherine Berkery, who then discovered she was pregnant.

After a legal battle that included DNA testing, a United States court ruled two years later that Tom in fact was the boy’s father.

Tom remained adamant that the court findings were false until 2008, where he conceded they were true.

He has shown no interest in meeting his son, Jonathan Berkery.
