‘I’m One of the Greatest Fighters Ever’- Tyron Woodley Makes a Massive Statement
Former UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley spoke to Fight Hub TV in the days following his fight announcement against Jake Paul. News recently broke that ‘The Chosen One’ would be debuting in boxing against the 3-0 YouTuber turned boxer in August. Chiefly, initial lines hold Jake Paul as the favorite despite Woodley’s history as a credentialed world champion.
The combat sports community largely believes that Jake Paul chose Woodley as a candidate based on his recent decline in the UFC. Woodley was let go from the organization after suffering 4 straight losses to top welterweights of the division. Ever since losing the belt to current champion Kamaru Usman, Tyron Woodley has seemingly never been able to bounce back.

Will Tyron Woodley go down as one of the greatest in the MMA record books?
When asked about whether his UFC skid made him a candidate to fight Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley reflected back on his career. The former multiple-time welterweight champion reminded fans of his position as an all-time great in the sport of MMA. Additionally, he went on to say that Jake Paul simply wasn’t as tried and tested as he was.
“At the end of the day, I’m one of the greatest fighters ever. Not just in my division, arguably one of the top 3, top 4 in my division. When you think about that, anybody can get a punch through in MMA. Four-ounce gloves, different variety of shit coming at you, elbows, knees, swinging at ankles, and breaking stuff so you never know. You prepare for what you saw the person did their last couple of fights.”
“Everybody can bring something new out but what he hasn’t done is even been to the 3rd, 4th round. I’ve been in five-round world title fights for three-four years straight. Even after my title fight, four, five, five-round fights in a row. This is what I do.”
There’s no denying that at his peak, Tyron Woodley was looked at as one of the best pound-for-pound active combatants. Moreover, fans were placing him as a viable candidate to dethrone Georges St-Pierre as the welterweight GOAT at one point. However, at 38-years of age, the upper echelon of the welterweight division seemingly passed him by.
