With Lakers Season On the Line in Game 6, Stats Prove LeBron James is The Man For Such Situations

This is it. The day that LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers stand face to face with elimination. After the Phoenix Suns demolished them in Game 5, the Lakers haven’t looked like the model defending championship team. However, Game 6 is their last shot at proving otherwise and it looks like the stats might side with LeBron James, or at least that’s what fans are hoping for.

LeBron James always responds when his legacy is on the line

The stakes are higher than ever and not just because the Lakers will miss out on winning their second straight title if they lose, but after their disastrous performance in the last game, they have too much to prove. It is one thing to lose a game but another to be down 30 points even before halftime.

Not only did their scoring options failed to step up, playing without Anthony Davis makes them weak. Unfortunately, Davis is questionable for this game as well, along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, which seems to be the biggest concern. But it looks like there might be a light at the end of the title.

As per ESPN Stats & Info, “LeBron James and the Lakers face elimination tonight and no one has been better in those situations than LeBron. In his career, he has averaged 33.7 points when facing elimination, the most in NBA history (min. 5 games).”

This is undiscovered territory for LeBron since he has managed to make his way to the postseason 15 out of his 18 seasons. But has never not ascended to the second round. A streak fans are hoping remains intact.

Lakers need LBJ to be more aggressive than ever

Despite a fluctuating offense, the purple and gold are an elite defensive team. Which only means that’s the least concerning part for them as they enter this do-or-die situation. With Bron’s back against the wall, he will have to switch on his beast mode.

It is likely that AD will remain out for this game and so the fate of the Lakers rests on Bron’s shoulders. As long as the rest of the supporting cast does not play as badly as they did last game, like Dennis Schroder and KCP finishing the night with 0 points, they still have a chance at redemption.

The Phoenix Suns are definitely a team not to be taken lightly, a less that was learned in the harshest way possible. It’s time to put all the bashing they face for the previous game aside and turn the tables. Will LeBron James do justice to his stat?
