Colby Covington Says ‘Journeyman’ Nate Diaz Is Not an Impressive Opponent for Leon Edwards
Colby Covington keeps a close eye on all the contenders in the UFC’s welterweight division. When asked which fight should decide the next no. 1 contender after him for the welterweight title, ‘Chaos’ made his view crystal clear, taking a shot at everyone in the process.
Given the scheduled activity near the top of the division, he chimed in. ‘Chaos’ went after a returning Nate Diaz ahead of the latter’s fight against Leon Edwards at UFC 263. He also commented on UFC 264’s Stephen Thompson vs Gilbert Burns.
“Yeah, you know, I probably say, you know, Dilbert or Wonderboy, which I don’t know why he’s called himself Wonderboy. They probably more deserving you got Edward Scissorhands over there who is coming off a loss… When you poke a guy two or three times and you’re walking backstage, not poke them in the eye that’s clearly loss by default and you know, his win streak’s over so he’s got to start back up,” said Covington to The Schmo.

Covington believes Edwards has an easy opponent in Diaz in his next fight. ‘Chaos‘ also added that a win shouldn’t guarantee ‘Rocky’ a shot at the title next.
“He’s gonna fight an unranked guy in Nate Diaz, you know, the little soy boy from Stockton, you know, who’s always getting slapped around the octagon because, you know, he’s a subpar fighter who’s got a 50-50 journeyman record so you know that’s not that’s not an impressive win if he goes out there and beats Nate. The guy’s nobody. He’s washed up hasn’t won a fight in years,” said the former interim welterweight champion.
