Actress Lisa Banes has been critically injured in a hit-and-run.

The star, who has appeared in films like Gone Girl, was hit by a motorised scooter in New York City.

Deadline reports that she was on her way to meet her wife Kathryn Kranhol and was crossing the road when she was struck by a scooter.

The driver of the scooter fled the scene and is currently being searched for by police.

Kranhol has said Banes, 65, is currently in a critical condition in Mount Sinai Morningside hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

She said in a statement (via New York Daily News): ‘We have several days ahead of us to pray for Lisa.

‘If anyone has any information about the scooter driver, we ask them to please call police.’

New York Police Department told Metro.co.uk in a statement: ‘On Friday, June 4, 2021 at approximately 1833 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of West 64 Street and Amsterdam Avenue, within the confines of the 20 Precinct.

‘Upon arrival, officers observed a 65-year-old female pedestrian lying on the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS responded to the location and transported the aided female to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

‘Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined the pedestrian was attempting to cross Amsterdam Avenue, from west to east inside the north crosswalk at West 64 Street, with the pedestrian signal in her favor, when a scooter- traveling north on Amsterdam Avenue- did pass the red traffic signal and strike the pedestrian, knocking her to the roadway.

‘The scooter then fled the location, continuing north bound. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.’

Banes has had memorable TV appearances in the likes of Nashville, The Orville, and has appeared in Masters of Sex and Royal Pains.

In the 2014 film Gone Girl, she played Marybeth Elliott.
