Isiah Thomas, DeMar DeRozan, and Others React to Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard’s Series-Saving Game 6 Performance

The Clippers, thanks to the highly optimistic approach of coach Tyronn Lue, have saved themselves from elimination. They were trailing by 4 points when they entered the fourth quarter, but the story beyond that was totally different. The Clips defeated the Mavs by a seven-point margin and forced a game 7 on their home court.

Kawhi Leonard and Luka Doncic locked horns in the decisive quarter, both playing their hearts out as the former won the battle. It was highly unfortunate for the Mavs to lose the game because they looked very in control until the first 36 minutes.

NBA players reacted to the victory and the heroic Kawhi Leonard performance

Kawhi Leonard enjoyed 12 points in the decisive quarter while overall scoring 45 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals at 72% field scoring. He made up for the rusty performance from Marcus Morris Sr. who added just 4 points at 10% shooting in his 42 minutes of play. The Clippers bench miserable failed and if not for the duo of The Claw and Paul George, the Mavs were definitely a better unit tonight. The LA franchise’s bench combined just 4 points as Rajon Rondo and Terence Mann went scoreless.

So it was obvious that the NBA fraternity would make it a case to praise Kawhi for his series-saving performance. Take a look at the comments from Kendrick Perkins, Skip Bayless, Isiah Thomas, and others –

What led to the Clippers’ clutch performance that consumed the Mavericks?

Paul George and Ivica Zubac set the tone for the fourth quarter with a combination of layups and free throws. After that, almost three minutes into the quarter, Kawhi Leonard entered the court and began his final scoring with a turnaround jump shot. Meanwhile, Tim Hardaway and Luka Doncic were also going neck-to-neck from the other end.

However, an Alley-oop dunk shot from Nicolas Batum on a Reggie Jackson assist handed the Clippers a 5-point lead with five minutes remaining in the game. Post that, it was a Kawhi Leonard show with multiple three-pointers that took the margin in favor of the visitors.

In the end, a couple of deep-range misses from Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis further sealed a W for the Clippers. Now, it is going to be the only seventh game from round 1 that will decide who gets to face Utah Jazz.
