‘Lomachenko Lost That Fight Himself’ – George Kambosos Jr. Downplays Teofimo Lopez’s Win Over Vasyl Lomachenko

Teofimo Lopez is the new lightweight king, thanks to his incredible performance against P4P superstar Vasyl Lomachenko. After capturing the world titles, ‘The Takeover’ is all set to defend his belts against challenger George Kambosos Jr. However, Kambosos Jr. is unimpressed by Lopez’s victory.

Lopez and Kambosos Jr. will be the main event of a unique card on Triller. They will meet on June 19 with all Lopez’s belts on the line. Ahead of the bout, Kambosos Jr. has shown his confidence by downplaying the American’s victory over Lomachenko.

The 19-0 boxer spoke to the media in the buildup to their bout and said, “There’s so many holes on this kid. It’s incredible the hype that he’s getting. And of course, you’re going to get that when you beat half a Lomachenko. But, you know, Lomachenko lost that fight himself. He didn’t get beat, he lost that fight himself.”

Thus, with his comments, Kambosos Jr. showed he believes Lopez does not deserve the belts. In addition, his statements revealed he feels if Lomachenko was a 100% fit, Lopez would have no chance.

The buildup to the Lopez vs. Kambosos Jr. bout has been fiery, to say the least. Both fighters have engaged in several verbal battles throughout the last two months. Lopez even predicted a knockout inside three rounds. However, Kambosos Jr. has shown his confidence in beating ‘The Takeover.’

And now, the Australian has explained what makes him a tougher opponent than Lomachenko. “And I think this is going to be a whole different kettle of fish. I’m bigger, I’m faster, I punch harder. I mean very, very well. My stamina is incredible.

“And you know what, I got the iron heart, the iron will, and I want to win. I’m not content, I’m nowhere near content. I’m not a world champion yet. June 19, I will be,” said Kambosos Jr.

Thus, given all this trash-talk between the two fighters, things are shaping up nicely for an exciting bout. Fans can expect fireworks from the first bell when the two get in the ring.

What do you make of these comments from George Kambosos Jr.? Do you think the Australian is right about the Lopez vs. Lomachenko bout?
