WWE SummerSlam in Las Vegas: Date, location and ticket information revealed for huge show

WWE has confirmed SummerSlam is coming to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The company has finally announced the host city and venue for this year’s Biggest Party of the Summer, as the huge spectacle comes to Sin City on August 21.

In a big reveal made on NBC before the Belmont Stakes, the company finally made it official that the new $1.9 billion stadium – which could hold around 70,000 fans – will take on the event.

Nick Khan – WWE’s President and Chief Revenue Officer – commented: ‘Coming out of the pandemic, it was important to us to have a big event like SummerSlam in Las Vegas.

‘We expect to deliver a great night of sports-entertainment for the people of the city and a boost in foot traffic for the casinos and local businesses.’

And Steve Hill – President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority – added: ‘We couldn’t be more excited to host SummerSlam for the very first time and welcome WWE, its Superstars and the WWE Universe to Las Vegas this August.

‘Live entertainment and sporting events are returning to the destination in a big way, and SummerSlam is the perfect addition to the Las Vegas summer calendar.’

The date itself is a departure for WWE, as the wrestling giant has traditionally had Sundays as its pay-per-view night – although SummerSlam will be coming on a Saturday evening.

In terms of tickets, they’re due to go on sale in a couple of weeks on Friday, June 18 – which will leave two months for people to figure out their plans if they’re lucky enough to get a ticket.

In terms of matches, it’s far too soon to tell how the card will look, but there have been plenty of rumours already doing the rounds suggesting John Cena could be poised for a comeback.

The former world champion had to miss WrestleMania 37 last month due to his Hollywood schedule, so a return in August isn’t out of the question.

After two nights of WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in April, WWE will be welcoming back fans regularly from July as Raw and SmackDown hit the road.

Money In The Bank will be the first pay-per-view to have a live crowd since Elimination Chamber in February last year.
