Ferrari Confirm Mattia Binotto’s Exit From F1 Pit Wall

The team principal of Ferrari, Mattia Binotto won’t be on the pit wall at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. This comes after the Italian team announced a complete reshuffle in management. Binotto will find himself inside the Scuderia garage instead of the pit wall this weekend.

The Maranello-based squad has put Ravin Jain in charge of the team’s strategy. He will work alongside Inaki Rueda who is currently the sporting director and head of the strategy position. While Binotto will be monitoring the team from the garage.

Ferrari will keep Binotto in the garage and get a team member for the weekend

As quoted from Motorsport.com, a Ferrari spokesperson said, “When we launched the new structure in February we said Laurent is taking the role as racing director. And Inaki Rueda was going to take the role of sporting director, while remaining the head of strategy.”

“So for the first part of the season we’ve done a process where step-by-step Inaki was taking that responsibility, shadowing Laurent. Now this process has come to a point where he is fully in charge of that. And as racing director Laurent is overseeing everything that happens on the track side.”

“The other novelty is that Ravin Jain will be in charge of strategy, and he will be on the pit wall,” he concluded.

How will the Scuderia perform this weekend?

The Italian team showed great pace throughout the whole weekend. The team managed to get both drivers in the final round of qualifying during Saturday’s session and hope to achieve a better result and score more points from this weekend.

Charles Leclerc managed to get into Q3 and secure pole position, the second time this season. He will hope for a good start and will aim to defend his position from rivals on the track. Carlos Sainz too made into Q3 but had crashed and will see the red lights from P5.

The Italian team will be hoping that both drivers score good points from this Grand Prix as they hope to gain some places in the constructor’s championship. Currently sits in fourth place with 78 points behind rivals, McLaren, the team hopes to overtake them by achieving a good result in Baku.
