Ashley Cain’s girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee reveals their relationship is ‘strong’ after Azaylia’s death
Ashley Cain’s girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee has said their relationship is still ‘strong’ after the death of their daughter Azaylia.
The tot died at eight months old in April after fighting a rare form of cancer called acute myeloid leukaemia.
Since Azaylia’s funeral last month, Ashley and Safiyya have taken fans along on their grieving process, which includes visiting their baby girl’s grave three times a day.
Safiyya hosted a Q&A in her Instagram stories on Sunday, during which one follower asked how the tragedy has impacted her relationship with Ex On The Beach star Ashley.
‘How had [sic] this tragedy affected you and Ashley’s relationship? Has it made you guys stronger?’ the follower asked.
Safiyya replied: ‘Yes we’re very strong. We are dealing with so much right now, but we always got each other.’
Ashley, 30, began dating Safiyya, 34, in 2017 following his romance with Chloe Ferry. However, they didn’t make their relationship Instagram official until the following year.
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Safiyya was asked how she was coping, to which she admitted: ‘I never know how to answer this question but I am feeling like every day it’s getting harder to get used to what happened, every day I am being tormented mentally but taking small steps is what I know I have to do and keeping Azaylia’s name alive is key.’
The aesthetic practitioner was also asked for an update on the charity she and Ashley are setting up in Azaylia’s name with some of the £1.6million that was raised for her cancer treatment but which they were unable to use.
Safiyya explained: ‘In a very short time the charity will be ready, we will share everything with you all when it is. So may of you want to help and support with Azaylia’s charity it’s beautiful to see, Azaylia is an inspiration. We will continue to make her proud #letsgochamp.’
When asked if she’ll be sharing footage of the speech she gave at Azaylia’s funeral, Safiyya revealed: ‘I get asked this a lot. I’m not too sure as it was very hard for me. But maybe one day.’
It comes after Ashley posted a video of his heartbreaking eulogy in which he detailed how becoming a dad to Azaylia ‘saved’ his life.
