Chad Johnson Hilariously Calls Out Conor McGregor After His Boxing Debut

Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson had his first take of boxing as he took on MMA fighter Brian Maxwell. The pair fought in a four-round exhibition bout as the undercard of the controversial Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul event.

The former NFL star put on a good account of himself as he showed decent boxing skill. However, the seasoned MMA fighter showed his class and even dropped him. And although Johnson got back up, it was obvious who had the better bout.

Since it was an exhibition bout, there was no official winner. This did not stop the hype surrounding the bout. Some of the biggest names in the sporting world reacted to Johnson and Maxwell going at it in the ring.

And in the post-fight interview, Johnson made a shock call out. He said, “I think I’m ready for [Conor] McGregor.” This comment from the superstar showed he enjoyed his time in the ring. And hinted that he would want to do it again.

Will Chad Johnson continue fighting?

The call-out from the former NFL player may have been a joke. However, it showed that he certainly liked the experience of getting in the ring. But would Johnson really get into the ring again? Regardless of McGregor or not.

In the build-up to the bout, Johnson was very clear that this bout was a one-off thing. He stressed that he would not continue fighting. Johnson claimed the only reason he was fighting was because Floyd Mayweather asked him to.

Despite this, the American Football player admitted that he enjoyed preparing for the fight. And now, given his call-out, maybe the experience of getting in the ring has changed Johnson’s mind about the sport.

Only time will tell if Johnson really gets back in the ring. If Mayweather can persuade him to enter the ring again, then you never know. However, there is no doubt his next opponent will not be Conor McGregor.

What did you make of Chad Johnson’s boxing debut? Do you think he should continue?
