Stefanos Tsitsipas reflects on previous encounters with Daniil Medvedev

Primarily, the 2021 Monte-Carlo champion called their earlier matches “a learning experience.” Stefanos added that he had anticipated more than enough from Daniil in the past.

“I think every single match I had against him was a learning experience,” the 2020 Roland-Garros semifinalist said. “You know, I had high expectations from him, and that’s a good thing, going into the match having higher expectations than your opponent might play.”

Moreover, the 22-year-old also remembered having dominated the start during their Australian Open 2021 semifinal. Tsitsipas credited his mental preparedness for the same.

“I also had a great start, where I didn’t let him attack a lot; I didn’t give him that much space to get going,” the Greek continued. “My performance was good, I was very mentally there in every single game, and whether I was serving or not, I was very concentrated in the process, and I did my thing the way I did it.”

Furthermore, Tsitsipas even acknowledged Medvedev’s improved service game. However, he has confidence in his game to take out any challenge.

“Of course, [with] myself playing well, I feel like I don’t have to think against who I am facing or not. I just have to play my game and let the rest be witnessed,” World No.5 concluded.

Tsitsipas and Medvedev’s road to French Open 2021 final

Interestingly, the 2020 Roland-Garros finalists Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are in the same half this year. Therefore, their potential meeting will be in the semifinals and not the final. It means that Tsitsipas and Medvedev have an open chance to reach the final.

The winner of this match will next meet the victor between Alexander Zverev and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Above all, it will be an all-out blockbuster tennis match that no tennis fan would afford to miss.
