Floyd Mayweather Curbs Potential Conor McGregor Rematch as He Vows to Never Fight Pro Again

Following an unofficial draw against Logan Paul, Floyd Mayweather appears to have hung up his boxing gloves for good. While a potential rematch against Conor McGregor could have brought him back, ‘Money’ has opened up on his fighting future, citing almost no possibility of a comeback.

Although he had been adamant about re-matching McGregor several times in the past, his recent statement doesn’t reflect the same. Hence, we might never see Mayweather vs McGregor 2 happen. After his fight with Logan Paul, ‘Money’, who spoke to the media in the official press conference, shocked several fans with his responses.

On the Showtime event, the undefeated boxer said, “Oh absolutely not, I have retired from the sport of boxing. I said it before, it’s not easy. Just, even for this fight, train a day, take a couple of days off. Train a day take a couple of days off because of the age, because of the wear and tear from the early on my career.”

“Boxing is a warranty on the body.”

Mayweather had earlier claimed that he would accept exhibition fights. However, the scrap with Logan Paul may have changed his mind and taken away his desire to make another ring walk. Hence, Conor McGregor may have to fight someone other than Floyd Mayweather if he wants to return to boxing.

The end of Floyd Mayweather?

After over a two-decades of dominance, 50 professional wins, and championship wins at five divisions, Mayweather claimed he is done with the sport of boxing. While the media was quick to ask about the possibility of another exhibition, ‘Money’ had a straight reply.

“If I would do an exhibition? Probably not,” said Floyd Mayweather.

The 44-year-old has several other ventures to look after, including his own boxing promotion. As he has achieved it all and doesn’t need to fight anymore, it makes sense for Mayweather to retire from all types of boxing.
