How Much Did Patrick Cantlay Win at the 2021 Memorial Tournament?

The 2021 Memorial Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion after four days of action. Players gave it their best at the challenging Muirfield Village Layout, but only one man came out on top after 72-holes and a playoff round. Patrick Cantlay reigned supreme for the second time at the Memorial, but how much did he take home in 2021?

Cantlay emerged as the surprise champion after Jon Rahm withdrew from the tournament after Round 3. Rahm was poised to win the tournament comprehensively, but a positive COVID-19 test came in the way and ruined his success.

Payout for Patrick Cantlay at the 2021 Memorial Tournament

Patrick Cantlay had to keep his calm and edge out Collin Morikawa in the playoff hole on Sunday. Both players were tied at 13-under after four rounds which forced a playoff round at the par-4 18th. The tensions were high, and it was Cantlay who delivered when it mattered.

As a result, Patrick Cantlay earned the highest payout at the 2021 Memorial Tournament. The total prize pool of the event was $9.3 million this year and Cantlay received an 18% share ($1.674 million) as the champion’s prize money.

Patrick Cantlay is now a two-time winner of the Memorial Tournament. He’s found himself in elite company, and the 29-year-old also brought up his second title of the season with the triumph at Muirfield Village.

Cantlay first won the Memorial Tournament in 2019, where he finished two strokes ahead of Adam Scott. However, the total prize pool of the tournament was $9.1 million back then, which was $200,000 lesser than the prize money awarded this year.

Cantlay was thrilled to be on the winner’s podium once again

The 2021 Memorial Tournament victory brought up the fourth title in Cantlay’s PGA Tour career. It also marked his second victory at Muirfield Village and the California native was jubilated about receiving the trophy from Jack Nicklaus.

“It’s always special coming off the 18th green and shaking his hand. We have a great connection and we are, I would say, good friends at this point, and so that makes it just a little more special. So he’s taken me under his wing and to do it at his place with the advice and encouragement that he’s given me over the years is very special for me,” Cantlay said after the win.
