“I’m Difficult to Beat”: Alexander Zverev Fires Warning to Rivals Ahead of French Open 2021 Quarterfinals

World No.6 Alexander Zverev secured his place in the quarters of the French Open 2021 by defeating Kei Nishikori. The German dominated the entire match and thrashed the Japanese player in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match was 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.

Alexander Zverev will now face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarters of the French Open 2021. The Spaniard is in some superb form at the moment as he battled past Casper Ruud in a five-set marathon in the third round.

In the post-match interview, Zverev mentioned that Fokina has played some really great tennis at Roland Garros 2021. Thus, he stated that he’ll need to give his best in the quarters in order to win against him.

“Of course he’s had some fantastic matches, I think today [in the round of 16 against Delbonis] was a fantastic match from his side. I have to come out here and I have to play my best and give myself the best chance to win,” said Zverev in the interview.

Even though Fokina is a World No.46 player, Zverev is not at all taking him lightly. As a result, he highlighted that he would have to be on his toes to beat the 22-year-old.

In the same interview, Zverev emphasized that he’ll have to focus on himself and his gameplay before facing Fokina. However, he also seemed highly confident and said that if he’ll give his best, it’ll be very difficult for the Spaniard to beat him.

“I have to focus on myself. I feel like if I play my best tennis I’m difficult to beat,” added the German player.

After winning the Mutua Madrid Open 2021, Zverev is definitely enjoying some incredible form on clay. He has got a comparatively easier match in the quarters and will look forward to entering the semis without much difficulty.
