Animal Crossing: New Horizons: How to Plan the Creation of Your Island

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a part of Nintendo’s life simulator series. It is one of the few games on the Switch where players can let their creative sides loose. With an entire island to make your own, you can end up overthinking a design or theme and end up with an undesirable result.

Thus, in her latest video, Animal Crossing YouTuber, Consolecaito gives advice on how one should plan their island. Her primary focus is on the creation of a ‘mood board’. This is essentially just laying out all the elements that you wish to incorporate into your design. These items can be placed in any order and in any place on the mood board.

How to create a mood board in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

She also recommends utilizing custom designs from the Design Editor Pro app. However, she warns us to always place them down to see if the design and color are truly what we are looking for. In her own mood board, she includes a variety of blanket designs, a floral carpet, and even a unique 23 piece wooden pattern.

With the autumn season arriving soon in the Northern hemisphere, Caito picks a beautiful combination of yellow, white, and orange flowers. She even stresses how the yellow pansies are not something she would typically use but they fit the theme that she is going for. While the idea and concept of a mood board are simple, it provides tonnes of utility.

You can click and save pictures of your mood board. This will provide you inspiration for designs when you are lacking creativity. Furthermore, once you have created the mood board, you can pick and choose items to match the existing theme.

With the wedding season currently in full effect on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players are looking to unlock exclusive wedding-themed items.
