She said the tip allowed her to be more transparent with her bridal party, so none of them were surprised when it came to money or time commitments.

Lisa explained to TikTok that before she became engaged, she had been a bridesmaid before and want fully aware of the costs and expectations that came along with the role.

She says: “I felt very insecure doing this, but I’m ultimately glad that I did – and that was including a letter of what I expected from my bridal party.”

The two-sided page outlined everything from time commitments and financial contributions.

Lisa says: “So I told hem if they lived over an hour away, they didn’t have to worry about making it to the bridal shower or to go wedding dress shopping with me.”

The bride-to-be also dictated financial expectation, saying that she would pay for their hair and makeup to be done, but they were responsible for the cost of the bridesmaids’ dresses.

To make the deal fairer, Lisa informed her bridesmaids that they also had the free to choose the style of dress they wanted, but the dresses had to be in a specific colour.

But Lisa said the most important part of her bridesmaids proposal was that they had the right to say no to the offer.

She says: “But most importantly, I told them that they could say no to be a bridesmaid.

“That we would still be friends, and they could keep all the gifts within the bridesmaid proposal box.”

Lisa revealed that one of her intended bridesmaids did say no but assured that nothing came between them and they’re still good friends.

She said that the transparency she wrote in the contract ultimately worked in her favour.

People flooded into the comments but were divided on whether Lisa’s contract was a positive idea.

One user wrote: “That’s a mature way of handling it.”
Lisa replied: “And that’s how they interpreted it, too! I was so scared that it would seem like a bridezilla move.”

Some people even shared their own bridesmaid proposal stories – but not of them went to plan.

One person said: “I literally told a bride no. she said when I call back you better have a diff answer. I ended up giving in, she was TOXIC, we are no longer friends.”

Another commented: “We purposely asked each person in the bridal party separate so someone has the opportunity to say no without feeling embarrassed.”

Others couldn’t believe how much was expected from bridesmaid, saying that they shouldn’t be pressured into committing so much.

The video has been viewed over 3.3million times and amassed over 635,000 likes.

Lisa’s contract may have divided TikTok, but she’s confident her transparency worked in her favour.
