Sebastian Vettel Happier at Aston Martin Than He Was Ever at Ferrari: Hill

The moment Ferrari denied Sebastian Vettel a seat beyond the 2020 F1 season, questions arose over the German’s future in the sport, with most reckoning his time in racing is all but over. However, then arrived the savior, Aston Martin, a team that saw something in the 4-time world champion amidst his drastic downfall.

Yes, the start to his new journey with the British outfit was a bit scrappy. But, how have the tables turned since the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix? The German managed to shut the critics down with two back-to-back incredible outings.

And the latter one at Baku potentially affirmed the return of the ‘old Seb‘, as he secured his first podium for Aston Martin.

During a podcast, the host, Tom Clarkson, reckoned Vettel is much happier at Aston Martin than he has ever been over his 7-year phase at Ferrari.

I think Sebastian Vettel is happier now than he was at any period in his Ferrari career. I think this is the happiest Seb we’ve seen since 2013,” he said during F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast.

Furthermore, former F1 driver, Damon Hill, too acknowledged Tom’s theory, as the Briton felt that Vettel’s dark spell in F1 has finally ended.

Sebastian Vettel has come alive again: Hill

Hill opined that Vettel’s switch to Aston Martin has helped the German to escape the “complicated mess” he found himself in during the 2020 season.

I agree with that. He’s coming out of that dark spell because he did have an awful lot of bad luck a few races back,” he said.

But, you know, he’s come out of this complicated mess that he found himself in in Ferrari. So, quite difficult to get to that point in your career, and thinking to yourself, ‘Am I on the scrappy?’ But he’s clearly not. He’s the old Seb, He’s come alive again in the Aston Martin team.

After a slow start to the 2021 season, Vettel managed to up his game since the Monaco GP, where he finished the race in an astonishing P5.

What’s more, he drove a blistering race in Azerbaijan to see the chequered flag in P2 despite starting the race from outside the top 10.

Overall, a brilliant couple of outings for the 4-time world champion, having secured 28 points. But, can he texted his run of form into the French Grand Prix as well? Only time will tell.
