Sebastian Vettel Hopeful to Be Fighting More for F1 Places That Matter After Baku Podium

In his new start at Aston Martin, Sebastian Vettel was struggling to understand the car, and that was evident in his performances. However, the Monaco Grand Prix came as a ray of hope, with the German securing a solid P5 finish at the street race. He then followed it up with a P2 finish, his new team’s first ever podium, at the recently-concluded Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

He is understandably enjoying himself now and is able to fight for better finishes in a race.

As quoted by Autosport, Vettel said, “It’s always nice if you join a new team get together good results.

“I sat here on Thursday and said that I’m in it to win, and I enjoyed the race because I was getting closer and closer to spots that I enjoy more and more.”

He added, “Obviously when I was P4, I knew that’s good points for the team and for myself, but as soon as we were in the podium ranks, I really thought that we can have a say if something happens.

“I think I felt quite comfortable in the car all weekend, which for sure doesn’t hurt, so hopefully we can carry that momentum into the next couple of events.

“France will be a normal track so we will see where we are, but hopefully we can fight for points a little bit more regularly,” Vettel concluded.

The four-time world champion is finding his old form

With a prolonged poor run of form with Ferrari, followed by repetitive points-less finished with Aston Martin, many believed that Seb’s time in F1 was over, and he should’ve exited the sport instead of signing with the British team. However, he silenced his critics in Monte Carlo, and then again in Baku.

Now, with his newfound confidence, Vettel will push for similar, if not better, results.

He finds himself in ninth place in the drivers’ standings and will aim to rise up the ranks as the season progress. The German has given fans hope and will aim to deliver on those by bringing in good results at subsequent races.
