Toto Wolff Shouldn’t Publicly Criticize Mercedes: Red Bull Boss Horner

Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff, was very disappointed with his team after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Silver Arrows failed to score a single point as both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas failed to finish in the top ten. Christian Horner of Red Bull feels it’s wrong that Wolff throws his team under the boss.

Wolff is upset that for the second time this season the team hasn’t been able to perform, and their rivals from Milton-Keynes are getting the advantage in the hunt for the title. Hence, the Austrian boss is so critical of his colleagues.

Horner feels that Wolff shouldn’t lambast Mercedes after a failure

As quoted from Motorsport.com, Horner said, after the Grand Prix, “Toto has made quite a few comments this weekend. He never hesitates to criticize his team in front of everyone, and I disagree with that.” (Translated from Turkish via Google.)

Horner was full of praise for his team as Sergio Perez came first but was disappointed at Max Verstappen couldn’t finish his race after having a fatal crash.

What did Wolff say about the Silver Arrows?

Wolff was angry with his team for not winning as they have gotten so used to it week in, week out. So it was no surprise that shared his disappointment with the team but wants them to be motivated and hungry for victory.

He said, “We didn’t have a competitive car in Monaco and here, period. We faced many problems. We’re not able to get the car into a range where the tires can run properly.”

“We know our shortcomings and what we need to fix. But I know this team is pretty strong and pretty angry right now. We will use this anger positively and come back stronger.” (Translated from Turkish via Google)

The Brackley-based squad will need to come back stronger for the next race if they want to chance to fight for the title with rivals Red Bull. The next race of the season takes us to France, where the Silver Arrows will be hoping to bounce back.
