Andy Ruiz Jr. Details His Anticipation to Get Back in the Ring

Andy Ruiz Jr. ranks among the top-notch heavyweights of the modern boxing era. Over the past few years, he has remained in the limelight and has fought some extremely rugged contenders. In his last fight, Ruiz Jr. hammered the veteran in Chris Arreola Jr. to finally get his boxing stint back on track after a substantial hiatus.

But the Mexican-American boxer is hungry for more. He is extremely eager to come back to the squared circle. ‘Destroyer’ tweeted, “I’m ready to get back in the ring, who do you want to see me fight next?”

Although the ‘Destroyer’ has been a center of attraction for a while, his predominant breakthrough came in when he defeated Anthony Joshua back in 2019. Ruiz Jr. viciously T/KO’ed the Brit to dethrone him in what fans consider to be the biggest upset in modern-day boxing.

However, Ruiz Jr. couldn’t sustain the momentum and ended up losing the rematch against ‘AJ’. With that, he also lost his hard-earned heavyweight titles. After that loss, the ‘Destroyer’ took a long layoff and worked on himself.

He lost a significant amount of weight and even changed his trainer to bag some extensive boxing lessons. That said, he employed those learnings in his last fight against Chris Arreola and won that bout. Despite securing the win, Ruiz Jr. didn’t seem to be in his best form as there were a few moments where Arreola staggered him.

Who should Andy Ruiz Jr. ideally face next?

The Californian has been highly keen on facing Anthony Joshua in a trilogy bout. Unfortunately for him, the latter is currently locked in to fight Oleksandr Usyk for his WBO heavyweight title defense.

Citing the prevailing scenario in the big men’s division, the only opponent who seems the most ideal is Dillian Whyte.

This is because Whyte himself is unaligned with any opponent, and a bout between him and Ruiz Jr. might take the winner one step closer to fighting for the heavyweight gold.

It’ll be interesting to see who Andy Ruiz Jr. realistically gets to face in his next outing. Who would you like to see Andy Ruiz Jr. take on next?
