UFC 263: Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno 2: Prediction and Analysis

The co-main event of the UFC 263 pay-per-view will see yet another rematch go down between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. ‘Deus da Guerra’ retained his belt in their first fight at UFC 256. However, the contest was a draw. Both fighters will look to prove their superiority in their second clash.

Figueiredo made a quick turn around after defeating Alex Perez at UFC 255 in the first fight. So did Moreno, as ‘The Assassin Baby’ defeated Brandon Royval on the same card. But for the amount of weight the champion cuts to make the flyweight limit, it’s taxing on his body to make that weight twice in such a brief span.

Also, Figueiredo was reportedly hospitalized the night before the fight with food poisoning. He is expected to be fully healthy without a drastic weight cut. This might play a huge factor at this weekend’s event.

‘Duas Da Guerra‘ has a record of 20-1-1 with 17 finishes (9 T/KO and 8 submissions); ‘The Assassin Baby‘ has a record of 18-5 with 13 finishes (3 T/KO and 10 submissions).

As mentioned earlier, the champion’s pre-fight issues were an enormous factor in the previous fight. Perhaps a healthier version of the champion is much more lethal.

Moreno has the longer reach. But Figueiredo neutralized that factor as he was the fighter using his jab more efficiently in the first contest. Also, despite both fighters taking damage, it was Moreno who received the more severe ones.

They both have exceptional heart and grit. There’s no questioning that. The rematch should be close too, just like the first fight. But it’s hard to pick against the champion considering the level of dominance he has shown over his opponents throughout his run in the UFC. He might just edge out a close decision in his favor.

Final Prediction: Deiveson Figueiredo by decision.
