Who is Ravin Jain- F1 Strategist Replacing Mattia Binotto on Ferrari Pit Wall?

The Scuderia Ferrari team is undergoing a massive technical reshuffle. Among those changes is Team Principal Mattia Binotto’s relocation to the garage from the pit wall.

Now, Binotto’s vacant pitwall seat will go to Ferrari strategist Ravin Jain. Apparently, Binotto’s absence is largely down to the limited number of seating positions on the pit wall.

Of course, many Team Principals can watch the track action from the pit wall, but some chose to watch from the garage. It is worth mentioning that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff generally hangs around in the garage.

However, he does sometimes have a few stints on the pit wall. Coming back to Binotto though, reports say that he will not be present at all races this year.

“When we launched the new structure in February we said Laurent is taking the role as racing director,” a Ferrari spokesman said. “Inaki Rueda was going to take the role of sporting director, while remaining the head of strategy. So for the first part of the season we’ve done a process where step-by-step Inaki was taking that responsibility, shadowing Laurent.”

In terms of F1 pedigree, he started his career in 2013 at a summer job at Caterham. Over there, his role revolved around data processing. A year later, he joined the Williams F1 team with the software design group in the strategy department.

Finally, Jain took on a third summer job at Ferrari in 2015. Once again, he was recruited into the strategy team. In addition to that, he was also part of the mathematical modeling group.

After finishing his academics, he joined Ferrari in 2016 on a full-time basis and has stuck with them ever since.
