Bonnie Tyler knows about all of your solar eclipse (of the heart) jokes because it happens every now and then
If you’re considering firing off a joke about Bonnie Tyler because of the partial solar eclipse across the UK today, maybe turn around and delete it.
The singer, best known for her 1983 power balled Total Eclipse of the Heart, shared that her phone has been blowing up as plenty of people have alerted her to what’s going on.
Bonnie took it rather well and didn’t fall apart, sending a jokey tweet herself on Thursday which said: ‘Notifications are blowing up. checks news Ah. There’s an eclipse.’
The gag gets even better when you sing her classic song changing ‘total eclipse’ to ‘solar eclipse’ – but you’ve already thought of that, right?
Fans loved her reaction, but unfortunately for her that meant the jokes kept coming.
Sharing a photo of themselves in their garden with the sun at their back, one follower said: ‘I forgot to…TURN AROUND.’
Another wrote: ‘Ahh but darling yours was total. This was partial.’
‘It’s not a total one and nowhere near my heart sadly,’ read another jokey reply.
One tweet read: ‘I guess they need you now tonight’ and another fan simply said: ‘Welp. Nothing you can do.’
‘I mean this is what you get for singing the greatest song ever written,’ said one follower.
‘”Annular Eclipse of the Heart” just doesn’t have the same ring to it’ read further tweet – and they have a point.
We should point out that some of Bonnie’s other classic songs include It’s A Heartache, Lost In France and, of course, Holding Out For A Hero.
Annular eclipses occur every two or three years and happen when the sun and moon are exactly in line with the Earth.
If you were still hoping to catch the partial eclipse we’re sorry to tell you it’s already happened, with the entire event wrapping up at around 12.30pm.
