Star Wars’ Liam Neeson addresses rumours of Obi-Wan Kenobi series cameo
Star Wars’ Liam Neeson has addressed the rumours linking him with a cameo in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series heading to Disney Plus.
Fans have been speculating about his possible involvement in the show ever since the spin-off was announced.
The prequel spin-off has been pitched as a ‘rematch’ between Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) and his former Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), with some hoping that Liam’s character Qui-Gon Jinn could be involved in some way.
However, as much as we’d like to see him return, the actor has now poured cold water on the rumours.
When appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, the 69-year-old actor said: ‘I heard Ewan McGregor was gonna do a series.’
When asked if we was involved, he said: ‘No, I don’t think so. No, I haven’t been approached.’
‘They don’t have enough money,’ he joked.
While there’s a chance that Liam could be bluffing about any involvement, it looks like the actor has distanced himself from the project for now.
At the 2019 D23 expo, it was announced that the series starring Obi-Wan Kenobi was officially in the works for Disney Plus, with Ewan returning to reprise his role from the prequel films.
Bonnie Piesse, who played Beru in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and Joel Edgerton, who played her husband Owen, have also been confirmed to be returning for the new adventures.
Joining the team are new faces to the universe, including Marvel’s The Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani, and the previously confirmed Indira Varma (Game Of Thrones, This Way Up).
Homeland star Rupert Friend, and Straight Outta Compton’s O’Shea Jackson are also both joining the cast.
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi has yet to be given a release date on Disney Plus.
