Bob Arum Slams Eddie Hearn for Dragging Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury for Weeks

Bob Arum has opened up on the undisputed unified heavyweight championship bout that was supposed to be held in August. While the fight is no longer relevant, we have already seen the promoters blame each other as it fell through.

That said, Arum has accused Eddie Hearn of complicating the site fee, which eventually postponed the date before Deontay Wilder stepped in. Although Hearn had different views on the scenario, Bob Arum seems clear with his opinion.

The Top Rank Kingpin said, “Eddie sc**wed everything up. The Saudis were happy to pay a tremendous site fee. Eddie got greedy, ‘Pay a bigger amount, take the TV.’ It dragged on for weeks. I believe if it’d just been a site fee we’d have announced and the arbitrator would’ve given Wilder damages.”

Tyson Fury will now defend his WBC belt against Deontay Wilder in an epic trilogy on July 24. On the other end, Anthony Joshua will put his WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO titles at stake against Oleksandr Usyk. So, the Brit champions are nowhere near facing each other.

Only if they win their respective fights, the undisputed clash will come to life once again. However, ‘AJ’ and ‘The Gypsy King’ will step up against two of the most skilled punchers next. Both Usyk and ‘The Bronze Bomber’ will look to insert themselves into a potential undisputed title fight.

Bob Arum and Eddie Hearn – The Actual Game-Changers

Despite their differences, Hearn and Arum appear interested in staging ‘AJ’ vs Fury. It would be one of the biggest events ever in boxing, citing an enormous income for all parties involved. Moreover, it would also crown a new undisputed heavyweight champion- the first since Lennox Lewis.

However, the current scenario has brought several complications. Even if ‘AJ’ and Fury beat Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk, they will also have several mandatory contenders waiting to get a shot at the world title.

Dillian Whyte is arguably the most prominent name in the mix. Hence, ‘Fury vs Joshua’ is up in the air, and should they win, it’ll all be down to the game-changers, Hearn and Arum.
