Kyle Larson Reveals his Game Plan for the NASCAR All-Star Race

This weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star race at the Texas Motor Speedway. Admittedly, Kyle Larson is one of the favorites because he is not only in great form, but won the All-Star Race once. Now, ahead of the race at the Texas Motor Speedway, he is gunning for his second win.

Unlike previous years, the 100-lap race will be broken into six stages. Each of the opening four stages last 15 laps while the fifth stage is 30 laps. Finally, the last stage consists of a 10-lap dash to the finish line, and only green-flag laps count. It is also worth noting that there is a reverse grid format after each round until the fourth segment. Finally, the mandatory four-tire pit stop takes place during round five with a cash prize for the fastest stop.

“I don’t think you can take any notes,” Larson said about his preparations. “It’s a different format, different racetrack, different package, so nothing that I remember will be the same. (We) just need to go out there, hopefully have a fast car and pass anyone in front of you.”

How has Kyle Larson performed in 2021?

The 28-year-old driver has been on a role in the past few races, with two consecutive wins at Charlotte and Sonoma. Even though this race has no consequence on the championship, Larson is still going to race hard.

Additionally, the new format also means that there is a chance that Kyle Larson may have to start from the back. Despite this, he is relishing the challenge of coming from the back of a 21-car field. He did it before in 2019, winning the $1 million prize in the process. However his journey was a lot longer as he had to qualify via the All-Star Open before he lined up on the All-Star Race grid.
