Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer- Are 450 RPM Auto Rifles Like the Shadow Price and The Number Worth Using?

One of the most intriguing questions in Destiny 2 currently revolves around Auto Rifles. For a long time, fans have debated about these weapons being part of the meta category. Many of them, such as the Chroma Rush, have been fan favorites, but players have felt that other weapons of the category can be better.

At the start of Season of the Splicer, the 450 RPM Auto Rifles received a slight buff which increased the damage per bullet from 17 to 18. This increased the TTK from 0.9 to 0.8. But is this buff enough for players to use guns like the Shadow Price or The Number in PvP or PvE?

Shadow Prince Destiny 2

Shadow Price is one of the most impressive 450 RPM Auto Rifles in Destiny 2. It’s got a massive fan following partially because it has an Adept version which was available as loot for Nightfall Strikes, and it should return soon to the game. The Shadow Price is quite consistent in its design, scope and build, and fans can trust on it in most dueling situations.

It’s definitely better to use the weapon in PvE because of the damage buff, and it has pretty good perks. This includes Full Bore, Swashbuckler, Accurized Rounds and Surplus, and players have a lot of range in terms of finding God Rolls for it. But, it also has a major disadvantage which is the lack of PvP rolls because it’s a PvE based weapon. Overall, it’s pretty fun to use, but there is an even better option in The Number.

Why is The Number a better 450 RPM Auto Rifle?

The Number has a major disadvantage compared to the Shadow Price in the Range department. But the performance isn’t massively different in long ranges because of the higher Zoom stat of The Number compared to the Shadow Price. Other than that, the damage dropoff of these weapons are very close as well. It also has better stats as well.

The Number also has a bad accuracy problem, and it flares out a lot while shooting from the hip. So it’s not as consistent as the Shadow Price. But even then it’s still great to use, and with the Counterbalance mod, it should significantly decrease the recoil. Other than it has some pretty great rolls with traits like Small Bore, Ricochet Rounds, Surplus, Multi Kill Clip and many more.

In the end, 450 RPM Auto Rifles continue to be in the good category but it has slightly improved following the buff from Bungie. They have a faster TTK and they require crits as well so it’s not that forgiving. In terms of stats, The Number is probably the best option to use, even with its horrible recoil.
