Trackhouse Racing Looks Set to Field a Second Car in NASCAR Cup Series for 2022

In 2021, the Trackhouse Racing team made its NASCAR Cup Series debut. Team co-owner Justin Marks recruited Daniel Suarez for the one-car team and the Mexican has performed decently so far. Recently, Marks spoke to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and revealed that there are plans to field a second car.

He said, “We have to think about scale. Being that small, that’s only going to go so far. If we really want to grow into a company that competes and fights for championships down the road. Being able to scale the operation is of utmost importance. We’re actively involved right now in identifying opportunities for expansion in 2022. A two-car team in 2022 is very much in the picture and something that we’re working hard on right now.”

Marks also revealed that he and the team are reaching out to other drivers. All said and done, he acknowledged that Daniel Suarez and the #99 team are doing a stellar job.

Who can take the second Trackhouse Racing seat?

As it turns out, this could not have come at a better time. This is because Kurt Busch recently revealed that he is weighing his options for the future. As per reports, Trackhouse Racing was one of the teams that approached him for 2022. Other options on the table include 23XI Racing and Chip Ganassi also want their driver back in the stable.

So far this season, the team has been performing decently in 2021. This probably explains why Marks and co-owner Pitbull have decided to dream big. Having the 2004 Cup Series champion on the team will be a huge boon to the squad. Especially considering that his last Cup Series race win came last year in Las Vegas. In other words, despite his age, Busch is proving that he still has it in him
