WWE SmackDown results, grades: Roman Reigns totally destroys Rey and Dominik Mysterio after two-on-one attack

WWE SmackDown ended with Roman Reigns standing tall over Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

The Tribal Chief continued to look every inch the superstar he truly is with another week featuring plenty of development and excitement in the Universal Champion’s ongoing story.

The night kicked off with a recap from last week before Roman was shown backstage wondering whether Jimmy Uso realises he won’t stand for people embarrassing the family.

His cousin went to the ring, insisting the champ is jealous of him and his brother Jey and their quest for tag team gold, while claiming he intentionally got them disqualified last week.

He insisted he would do something he wouldn’t regret by the end of the night – but Reigns warned Jey to ‘do something about this’ as he blamed him for what went down.

During the night, the Head of the Table laughed off the idea of meeting Jimmy in his locker room.

Later, Jey stormed out of his locker room as he became furious at being in the middle of the row between his twin and his cousin.

Reigns blasted Jimmy for apparently treating his brother so poorly, which led to him walking out to find Jey.

In the main event segment of the night, Rey Mysterio came out to address the brutal beatdown Roman gave his son Dominik last week.

He said he acknowledged the Tribal Chief as a ‘rat b*****d’ and laid down a challenge For Hell In A Cell, but before he could respond the Master of the 619 attacked with a kendo stick.

Reigns eventually took control, only for Dominik to come out of nowhere with another kendo stick.

He got hit with a powerbomb over the top rope to the floor below for his troubles, and a boot to Rey’s head left him lying next to his son as the show went off the air.

Cesaro makes a big return, Otis shaves his beard and Liv Morgan gets a win

The opening match saw Big E and Kevin Owens pick up a win over Apollo Crews and Sami Zayn when KO caught the latter with a Stunner.

The match was every bit as entertaining as you’d expect from these four, and the Intercontinental Champion ranted after the bell that his partner let him down.

Zayn tried to argue only to be laid out with a Nigerian Nail, and Crews challenged E and Owens to a rematch next week with Commander Azeez as his partner – which they accepted.

Liv Morgan got some measure of revenge on Carmella as she picked up a win in a decent match just one week after she lost to the superstar.

However, after the bell Carmella made Greg Hamilton say ‘But still the Most Beautiful Woman in WWE’ as she kept her nickname to make up for her loss.

Bayley had Seth Rollins as her guest on the Ding Dong, Hello Show on Friday night, which both of them laughing obnoxiously over they respective verbal and physical attacks on Bianca Belair and Cesaro.

Partway through the segment, the doorbell rang and the King of Drip answered the prop door only to be might by the Swiss Superman – back from his recent injury – who absolutely battered him and sent him running.

The EST of WWE then appeared and laughed at the Role Model – and honestly, as unlikely as it is, this writer would welcome a mixed tag match next week as part of the Hell In A Cell build.

WWE superstar Otis is cleanshaven and attack Montez Ford on SmackDown in June 2021

Meanwhile, Chad Gable took on Montez Ford in a singles match after Otis and Angelo Dawkins were barred from ringside after an early confrontation (which the former wasn’t involved in).

It’s no surprise the Alpha Academy and Street Profits stars delivered a fantastic bout, which was only hurt very slightly by a botched ending.

Ford hit the From The Heavens but Montez had to kick out because Otis hadn’t hit the ring yet, which he did immediately after to cause the DQ.

Sporting a new, clean-shaven look, the former Heavy Machinery man looked like an absolute beast as he steamrolled through their rival.

Finally, Shinsuke Nakamura and King Corbin continued to feud over the latter’s crown with a decent enough match but one we’ve seen plenty by this point.

The King of Strong Style won, and Rick Boogs helped him get the crown before Adam Pearce made another match between the two to decide things once and for all (hopefully).
